Originally a miner’s cottage, Brasscam has been stylishly modernised to make a luxurious centrally heated three bedroom, two bathroom, holiday hideaway in the Lake District. It has an enviable quiet location at Mountain View in the heart of the Western fells looking out on to Glaramara and the path to Scafell and Alfred Wainwright’s famous Coast-to-Coast walk are just a few hundred yards away.

There is a host of stunning fell walks direct from the door and two hostelries and a charming cafe within 20 minutes walk.

Borrowdale is the ideal centre for a Lake District walking holiday. Keswick, the gateway to Borrowdale, is just seven miles away; it is a bustling market town with the famous Cumberland Pencil Museum, the award winning Theatre by the Lake, and the Keswick Launch making daily trips around Derwentwater.

The Borrowdale Valley boasts a wealth of classic walks including Grange Fell and Wainwright’s favourite Castle Crag ; the history of the Valley is steeped in slate mining and at the top of the valley, through Seatoller, the road climbs and winds its way up the Honister Pass where the Honister Slate Mine is still working and you can take a guided tour.

Over the Pass you descend into the beautiful Buttermere Valley which offers another appetising menu of challenging walks and hostelries and cafes.
